A significant number of military aircraft currently in service with air forces around the world are derived from Boeing commercial platforms. The P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft is based on the Boeing 737 Next Generation (737NG). The KC-46A Pegasus aerial refuelling tanker is derived from the Boeing 767-200ER. The E-7A Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft is built on the 737NG airframe. The C-40 Clipper transport is based on the 737-700.
This platform commonality has a direct and practical implication for maintenance tooling: the Boeing STD tools specified for the commercial platform are, in most cases, also required for the maintenance of the military derivative. An engineer maintaining a P-8A Poseidon performing a task that requires STD-77 on the 737NG will, in most instances, require the same STD-77 on the P-8A. The airframe is the same; the tooling requirement follows.
For defence MRO organisations and military aviation maintenance units, this means that Boeing STD tooling procurement is not solely a commercial aviation concern. Organisations maintaining P-8A, KC-46A, E-7A, C-40, or other Boeing-derived military aircraft have the same STD tooling requirements as their commercial counterparts — and the same supply chain challenges when those tools are not available.
The supply chain for military aviation maintenance tooling has historically been managed through defence logistics channels, which are often slower and less flexible than commercial supply chains. For Boeing-derived military aircraft, there is no technical reason why commercial Boeing STD tooling suppliers cannot be used to supplement or replace defence logistics channels for STD tool procurement. The tools are identical; the only difference is the procurement route.
Jazari Aerospace supplies Boeing STD tooling to customers across the commercial and military MRO sectors. Our catalogue covers all nine Boeing commercial platforms, and the military derivatives that share those airframes — including the P-8A Poseidon (737NG), KC-46A Pegasus (767), E-7A Wedgetail (737NG), C-40 Clipper (737), VC-25 Air Force One (747-200), E-4B Nightwatch (747-200), and C-32 (757-200) — can source the same STD tooling through our standard procurement process. Same-day dispatch for AOG requirements applies equally to military customers.
For defence procurement teams evaluating commercial supply options for Boeing STD tooling, the key considerations are supplier quality credentials (Jazari Aerospace is AS9100D compliant), supply chain speed (same-day dispatch for AOG), and the ability to supply exact specifications without substitution. All three are core to our operating model.
